On March 29, models didn't forecasted an event. Thus in a total rush, we went to the site (at around 2200 UTC).
Paul and Stephen stayed there to take observations and launch a balloon. There was light rain at the KES all the afternoon. They spent some time to figure out how to calibrate the sonde to finally launch a balloon that did not worked out.

Emilie B., Emilie P. and Julie went to a car ride to Fortress mountain. Weather measurement with the Kestrels was improved significantly since the last storm: 3 Kestrels were used and they were all set with the same parameters and time. Furthermore, a hiking GPS was activated to track our path as well as a manual waypoints were used to measured at key locations along the mountainside (ex: beginning of the snow-rain line).
We parked at the top of Fortress mountain to observed in more detail the snow cystals. The camera set-up was installed in the trunk of the car to take pictures of snow crystals.
Back to Kananaskis, we ordered pizza to work on improving sounding methodology and writing Kestrel procedure (set-up, measurements and back-up). The sounding method has been tested and approved! The Kestrel measurements procedure is about to be finalized.
Instruments working during that event: MRR, Parsivel, GEONOR, car sondes, manual obs at KES.
